Why can’t I transfer my prescriptions?
How do I get my prescription?
- Select “Get Prescription” in the message sent to you from your Provider, or go to “Prescriptions” under your care in your account.
- Search for your preferred pharmacy.
Please note that the cost of medications can vary by pharmacy.
- Once confirmed, your prescription will be sent to your selected pharmacy.
- Your prescription should be processed within a couple of hours by your
pharmacy. - Contact your pharmacy directly to confirm an estimated time of completion.
How do refills work?
When prescribed medication, refills will be indicated by the medical provider. Refills are sent to your pharmacy with the initial fill.
| Prescriptions are typically valid for up to a year. Pharmacies should keep refills on file for that time. |
I have refills.
If you have refills left on your prescription, reach out to your pharmacy directly to refill your prescription.
Don’t have a prescription number? Most pharmacies will be able to find your prescription using your first, last name, and date of birth.
I’m out of refills.
If you’ve received all the fills included with your prescription, you’ll need to complete a new visit in order to discuss a new prescription with a provider. We are not able to complete refill requests sent by the pharmacy or send additional refills outside of a new visit.
Can I change my pharmacy?
To transfer your prescription follow these three easy steps,
- Contact your new pharmacy to transfer your prescription.
This can be done online, over the phone or in person depending on your new pharmacy.You’ll need to provide the name, dosage and prescription number. - Provide your new pharmacy your insurance.
- Sit back and relax! Your new pharmacy will now process your prescriptions. This may take 2-3 days.
Some pharmacies provide status updates, or will reach out to you should there be an issue with the prescription. When in doubt, reach out to your pharmacy!
Why can’t I transfer my prescription?
Your prescription is out of refills.
If your prescription is out of refills, it cannot be transferred. You will need to contact your prescriber to fill a new prescription in order to change pharmacies.
